Description

The module provides an overview of key topics in the field of labour economics, focusing on labour markets in modern developed economies. The module first develops the competitive model of the labour market through an analysis of supply and demand for labour. Labour market outcomes such as wages and employment levels are considered. A range of issues that can affect these outcomes, such as trade unions, minimum wages, incentive pay, discrimination and immigration, are then analysed. Throughout the emphasis will be on the study of empirical evidence concerning these issues.
